Hungary’s apicultural potential and traditions are significant on a European-level; however mechanisation of beekeeping is not widespread. To increase average yield and cost-efficiency the National Apicultural Programme promote investment in mechanisation by providing financial support for bee-keepers, thus the demand for beehive-scales and apicultural property protection systems has increased.
The measuring and remote protection system, created by connecting the above mentioned functions, could be of great help to find the optimal date of harvest and swarming. The system saves time, money and energy for the bee-keeper by constantly monitoring the hives and giving alarm in case of an irregular event.
While writing my thesis I created the hardware and software design of a measuring card, which is the core of the measuring and remote protection system. After this I tested the completed prototype.
During my internship I had the opportunity to get an insight into the operation of embedded systems, the implementation of radio communication links and weighting with dynamometer props and I have acquired the necessary knowledge to use a hardware designer and software developer tool.
