In this thesis I am presenting a practical application of embedded devices integrated into a performance monitoring system. My tasks are to improve the functionalities of the existing probes in this system and design new measurement devices regarding the software and hardware. The measurements are stored locally by NETvisor Zrt.’s own Linux-based hardware and later the data is synchronized to a central server.
In the first part of my thesis I am going to examine an ACPS-10 alternating current sensor and I am presenting the software modifications for better accuracy and stable communication.
In the next part I am going to present a device designed by myself and I am giving a thorough description of the developing process. The device will have wider measurement-range, more functionalities and will be able to communicate on Ethernet interface. As I have implemented the basic measurement modules and communication modules in the software, the prototype of the hardware, which is being under development, can be tested. The configuration settings and the measurement results are available over CAN bus and an embedded HTTP webserver, that is why regarding the computer application I have implemented a web application, which is platform independent at the same time.
While I was working on my thesis I acquired practical knowledge in connection with embedded devices and monitoring systems as well.
