The Internet has become a part of everyday life. Not only businesses and communities, but more and more individuals also create and operate their own web site for professional and other purposes. It is essential to keep the website up-to-date, but the great majority of users do not have sufficient expertise in this. Partly because of this Content Management Systems have appeared on the net.
The CMS is a software system with which we can create websites in an easy and dynamic way with the help of a user-friendly interface. No web-programming knowledge is needed and the system can be used through a simple web browser. Almost all CMS-based sites, portals or blogs use database servers to store the structured contents and settings.
In my dissertation I give an overview about four widely used CMS systems, these are Joomla, Drupal, WordPress and Moodle. I installed each system separately, than described their main modules and services. The purpose of my work is to plan and create a modular, database configured CMS system, in Flash environment.
I used the knowledge and experience acquired while reviewing the four CMS systems in designing my own system. I created the website in Adobe Flash CS4 development environment, but the contents from the database is gained with server-side PHP scripts. During the programming I created the administrative and user interfaces, afterwards I tested the application.
