One of the most important achievements of the modern computer science is the global computer network called internet. Billions of devices are connected to each other and used by people to accomplish business transactions, send files or to keep in touch with each other. In an epoch / era, when we spend approximately the same amount of time online as offline, it is important that the infrastructure and algorithms keep up with the modern devices and needs as well.
One of the most important aspects beside the performance is the high availability. If the network is unavailable because of its faults and issues, the speed is negligible
The goal of this thesis is the implementation of an experimental fault localizing algorithm, called Advanced Global Neighborhood Failure Localization (AG-NFL) in Mininet environment. The package completes the main package and adds new functionalities.
In the first part of the thesis, the SDN networking architecture and the OpenFlow protocol has been introduced. After that, the currently used failure localizing technics have been shortly discussed and finally the monitoring trail based options have been presented in the thesis.
In the second part of the thesis, the implementation of this program has been introduced, starting with the specification, discussing the most important design decisions, and documenting the steps of the development.
