Motor diagnostics for TPM system by Siemens PLC

I wrote my thesis at Roto Elzett Certa Ltd. in Lövő. It focuses on the further development of the TPM system which was introduced at the company.

The company’s metal presses have not been observed with diagnostics before. With the system I developed, diagnostic analysis became accessible in a simple PC based environment without involving any further sensors.

Even though only the performances of the engines are measured in the project, we intend to project this information to the state of the whole press machine.

The task was to implement and establish the connection between the PLC and motor control, which communicate via PROFIBUS. The PLC had to be prepared for a sampling task which is able to read values from the motor control at specified reading intervals.

I stored the data collected by the PLC in a database, so it can be easily processed. To do this, the PLC communicates with the PC via Ethernet. The received data is saved in an SQL database. The measured values can be analyzed in a PC environment.
