LWM2M bidirectional communications over NB-IoT and Cat-M1 on a GeoFencing case study

In recent years, we have experienced a rapid development in the world of smart devices. The Internet of Things promises many useful and interesting opportunities for the future. For widespread application it is necessary to use new communication methods, suiting for the requirements of the IoT. These solutions must provide a reliable, energy efficient way of communication for millions of devices.

Beyond the proper data transfer it is also a frequent requirement to know the exact location of these devices, if they change position. This thesis aims to demonstrate a hardware and application that sends data only in case of crossing the border of a pre-defined area, instead of sending location data all the time.

With this hardware and application, I would like to demonstrate some new communication techniques suited for the IoT requirements, particularly the solutions that are based on the existing cellular network. The application also has a user interface, enabling the precise designation of the observed area.
