NFC peer-to-peer communication in the practice

NFC is an up-to-date standard collection, that enables simple and safe two-way interactions between electronic devices.

This paper includes the design plan and implementation of a microcontroller based NFC device - including hardware and software, that provides quasi-transparent data exchange between two units.

The first section gives a general overview about NFC standard, including physical interface and protocol.

Many NFC transciever integrated circuits are available on the market. The second section contains the analization of their properties and the most appropriate is chosen for the application.

The third section is about the design of the hardware, using the chosen NFC-transciever IC and a microcontroller.

Section four contains the description of the embedded software running on the microcontroller, this also includes the low level settings.

The next section is a short user’s guide and the description of the test environment.

There are more ideas to implement in the NFC module, some of these are described in the last section.
