Nowadays, the third most popular smart phone platform is the Microsoft’s system, the Windows Phone. The great advantage of Windows Phone programming is that – utilising the opportunities of .NET framework – you can develop cross-platform applications which are either simple or as complicated as they exploit the power and capacity of the phone’s processor.
Lego Mindstorms NXT robots are popular among both children and programmers or scientists, since the simple hardware, the wide range of sensors and the multiple programming possibilities make them easy to use.
The aim of my thesis is to design and produce a system that shows the common use of Windows Phone and NXT platforms. The movement of the robot can be controlled with the mobile application and, in addition, the sensor values can be got, as well. In spite of the fact that the robot accepts orders from the phone, it is able to send information on its own as well, so the communication between the robot and the phone should be two way.
