The thesis is about a smart hive, which possesses an own energy resource and is able to monitor the values of the outer and inner environment. The purpose of the literary research and the designing was for to help beekeepers in their job in real-life environment. The thesis presents the already existing smart hives, the health information about bees in present-day, the moduls used in the project, the inner and outer communication channels between the main unit an the user interface implemented by the server.
The hive itself belongs to the subject of the Internet of Things (IoT). It gathers data, which then is shared with the users via a unique communication protocol through the Internet. IoT is a relatively new conception, which thanks to the spread of the Internet and the blooming technological revolution throughout the last few decades bear more and more popularity.
The thesis consists a smart hive, possessed with a rechargeable battery, which can be operational up to a month. The hive is able to observe the inner temperature and noise of the brood. It is able to define itself in a three dimentional space. The system is able to communnicate with the server via MQTT protocol, which sends the messages through the local network to the user interface to visualize it in the Node-RED enviroment. Thanks to the user interface made by the server we are able to analyse and monitor the values.
