Visual analysis support for educational analysis methods

This document's main purpose is to serve as an introduction to the field of learning analytics and related subjects, while presenting potential use-cases and methods for educational data analytics focused on certain subjects an example case study executed by me. The outputs of the task are not only the results and conclusions regarding the certain subject, but also a set of automated solutions and documented methods, useful for similiar learning analytics cases.

In its first chapter the document presents an overview of data science as a field, and describes the common data analysis workflow and its basic concepts. On a related note, it also describes the R programming language with all its closely related tools for data analysis and visualization. The second chapter discusses educational data mining through international examples, and analyses the chosen subject, System Modelling, according to the aspects of educational data analysis.

The third chapter describes the workflow of my task in details, organized based on the different data sources.

I summarize the outputs and conclusions of the whole analyis process in the last chapter.
