The electronic devices are integrated into every aspect of life today. Explosive growth and rapid expansion in recent years has made it possible for the objects around us become more intelligent. The benefits of automated operation of our devices can be extended to our surrounding environment. There are many advantages if our home is automated, i.e., „It can think”. Along the performance of daily routine (moving shutters, heating control, irrigation) an intelligent home can increase our safety, reduce our energy costs, etc. A complex home automation system integrates several subsystems like: heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, lighting, security system, consumer electronics, intercom, telephone, shutter moving, irrigation equipment. In a home automation system it is an important issue that an automated function can be operated only from inside that apartment or can be accessed also remotely with some solutions (Internet, GSM, GPRS)

In my thesis, I would like to introduce a self-designed home automation system (IQ-Home), which is able to monitor an apartment and operate actuators locally and remotely.
