The lightning one of the most interesting, but also the most dangerous phenomena in the world. The lightning is an electrical discharge, which usually occurs when there is a rainstorm. If we don’t take preventive meaures ,in addition to heavy damages it may also endanger human life.
The preventive protection from lightnings is a special activity , which is based on prevention, rather than traditional passive protection. By using these methods it ispossible to take preventive measures before the emergence of danger. In order to perceive the signs leading to the development of the lightning, special instruments are needed There are global, and local lightining detector equipments. In the case of global ones a larger extended area is examined while local observation means installing local devices which warn against danger for example on a factory yard. One of the most widely applied local lightning detecting instruments is the rotor voltmeter, which measures the change of field strength in the air during the development of a rainstorm. The department has developed an own rotor voltmeter , which eliminates the sign problem with the help of varying-capacity electrodes. .
The deployment of the rotor voltmeter consists of more steps.. It is necessary to select a location which provides appropriate measurement conditions, concerning both pure measurement results and feasibility. Among the university buildings several are suitable for the installment of these instruments and what is more, their roof surface does not affect the homogenous field of force.. Before installing calibrations are needed , in order to know which level of field of force the measured values correspond to in reality.In order to get accurate results it is required to design a filtering circuit, but the results were differd from the realty.
