I wrote my masters thesis work at the SAP Labs Hungary.
I was working in one of the two teams, which’s main responsibility is to develop the SAP Supply Chain Management – Advanced Planning and Optimization.
During the last two semesters, we implemented such applications (use-cases), which can be used to utilize the possibilities what HANA, the SAP’s new in-memory database can offer.
SAP HANA is capable of to aggregate and calculate big data 3-300 times faster, than a “standard” relational database. Since APO’s planning algorithms use really big volume of data as basis of their calculation, HANA can open new perspectives for analytical applications.
In the first semester of my thesis, I was developing the backend part of the Supply Network Planning Analytics. This means that I designed, implemented and tested the calculation views, which were responsible to calculate the key performance indicators (KPI) from the key figures, regarding the selections set on the user interface.
