Integrating sensors with SENT protocol based communication into a LabVIEW FPGA based measurement station

This thesis is about getting familiar with the mechanism of the SENT communication protocol, and integrating sensors with SENT protocol based communication into a LabVIEW FPGA based measurement station. The two main components of the application are the code running on the FPGA, and the graphical user interface running on the PC. The former implements the decoder functionality of the protocol, the latter handles the user interactions required for the measurements.

At the beginning of the thesis, I write about the theme and the needs in a general introduction. This is followed by the literature research section, in which I describe the LabVIEW development environment, its FPGA module, the structures I use in the application, and the SENT communication protocol. After that in the development section, I write about the measurement arrangement that meets the specifications, and the structure and operation of the application. Then I present the results of the simulation and testing of the application. At the end of the thesis, I summarize and evaluate the work and mention further development opportunities.
