Determination of operator needs in SMT production lines

The aim of my thesis is to assess the general structure of the modern SMT production lines through my operating experiences and literary researches, then to present the necessary requirements and job duties to the operators working at the production lines. To be able to write a detailed description about all these above, I needed to make a literary research in the theme of assembly-technology. In the introduction of the two basic technologies, I covered their typical features, benefits and disadvantages in detail. Subsequently, comparing the experienced and the general SMT production line, I analyzed their structure, production equipment and functions. I examined what kind of tasks the operators, working by the production lines, have to perform at the given equipment, or what do they have to concern while operating these. After all, I surveyed what demands should be made for the operators to make them able to work in the production environment. In this section, besides the educational themes, I discussed the component knowledge, machine management, environmental protection and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and their importance in education. Making use of this knowledge, I have proposed for the necessary operating education and opportunities of further training, regarded to antecedents of the operators working on the production line. Following this, on the basis of my operating experiences, I defined the operator claim of a production line with a given capacity. Prior to the calculations, I made a survey about the production capacity of the production line, the range of duties of the operators, the influencing factors of their working hours, then I made measurements from the time spans of the single activities, from which I obtained the claim for operators for the given production line. Analyzing this result, I came up with a new solution proposal in order to standardize the tasks of the operators, or to make their loads more perfect in a shift. In this idea of mine, I analyzed the operator arrangement, which I found suitable, in case of a three-track production line firm. On the basis of preliminary considerations, I placed and supplied them with special ranges of duties. With the use of the results, received from my calculations, I exemplified the loads of the operators of each ranges of duties on an equalization diagram and I deducted the necessary conclusions.
