Developing an SPI-based bus

My thesis is based on the project I joined at Conet Ltd. The aim of the project was to develop a home automation design software and the corresponding hardware support. My role was to design some elements of the hardware side of the project. This thesis is about developing two elements of the system: a communication bus and the bus control unit.

The first, shorter part is about the development of the communication bus. First it describes the basic operation principles of the system then it details the transmitted signals and their operation mechanism. Finally, it introduces the layout of the printed circuit board.

The bus control unit includes a microcontroller, a galvanically isolated CAN and a Bluetooth Low Energy interface, the signals of the communication bus and a power supply with the input of 230V alternating voltage. The hardware parts I developed and described in my thesis were not bought from independent modules available on the market but built from individual components. The second part of the thesis details the plans of these modules and introduces the layout of the printed circuit board.
