Nowadays PLC – Programmable Logic Controller is used to perform most of the process-controlling tasks. The reasons behind it among others are its universal form and low price.
Because of the popularity of the PLCs it is good to realize the programming of PLCs. In the beginning of my thesis I show the different way of programming PLC used in the industrial process-controlling.
In the industrial control engineering it is getting more current to use HMI display panels with PLCs. That’s why the producers of the PLC are trying to satisfy most of the user’s needs with offering HMI displayers to their controller products. Using HMI displayers with PLC is good, because it makes the simulating and the error finding process of the program easier, since thanks to the graphical display it thickens the man-machine interaction. Besides that, it helps with the in-place diagnostics.
In the second part of my thesis I present the Siemens S7-1200 PLC I got for testing from the department and the Siemens Totally Integrated Automation Portal (TIA Portal) programming tool. Since I never used the TIA Portal before, in my report I take notice of how much help first-time users gets with the Siemens products.
Finally I present the finished program that I created using the PLC and the TIA Portal. A task was the analysis of a basic process-controlling problem, and the making of the program-code for the PLC. To check that the program is working properly I made a simulation displayable on the HMI displayer that is connected to the PLC.
