Today it is common that many activities are done on the Internet: such as keeping contact, gathering information or even working – and spending free-time is no exception. One of the most significant forms of which is online gaming: from the simpler to the more.difficult, lots of such applications can be found on the Web. More and more of them are based on the HTML5 technology, which technology enables using our websites as mutlimedia platforms, without the need for plugins.
This paper presents the design and implementation of a HTML5-based Real- Time Strategy Game-engine. In the first part of the thesis, the web-based techologies are demonstrated, in particular HTML5. Next, we look over the evolution and gameplay of strategy games, isolating from other genres. Following this, a few words are said about the HTML5-based and non-HTML5-based strategy game-engines, and having drawn the conclusions we start the development. A separate chapter is dedicated for the implementation of the engine having been designed, presenting the implementation of the most important functionalities.
Finally we change our focus to the testing and to the usage of the engine.
