My thesis work describes the development of a power supply unit operating in a universal input and output current and voltage range. This unit is mainly designed for feeding the field winding of DC and synchronous machines moreover it can be used to replace the outdated universal stabilized transistor power supplies.
I give an overview of the types and control methods of DC/DC converters. Based on the overview I suggest a new slope compensation method for average current control.
Details of calculation of component’s parameters are also given both for power circuit and for control system. Sketchy outlook of digital realization of control system is described.
The static and dynamic behaviour were investigated over laboratory measurements which results meet the requirements.
