Development of GIS data collection sensor network routing

In this term, I’ve developed a routing protocol for wireless sensor networks, that also can be used for collecting location-specific data and data transmission. The protocol uses the location of the sensor nodes for addressing instead of the generally used addressing methods. I’ve also made a simulation in order to validate the operation of the protocol.

I’ve studied the operation of the wireless sensor networks and the possible methods of positioning: mainly the satellite-based positioning and the cellular-based positioning. I’ve studied the OMNeT++ network simulation tool and used it for validating the protocol I’ve developed in different network topologies.

In addition to this, I’ve started developing an own network simulation tool. The application has been written in Java programming language and its network topology editor component already works perfectly. This component is able to export the designed network topology into the NED format, that is also used by the OMNeT++, so the created network topology can be used in OMNeT++ simulations.
