Nowadays the mobile device usage is getting very common and it’s a requirement to make applications available on many devices including desktop and mobile too. This can be a pricey task because if we would like to support every platform we have to plan, design, implement, maintain and develop the platform specific part of the solution one by one. To avoid this, nowadays we can choose from more and more tools. The simplest possibility is to develop a browser application that is „mobile-friendly”, however sometimes it’s not enough for the business needs and we have to make mobile apps too.

As the smartphone sales increased year by year, the tools to develop apps for them became better and better. First tools released for the specific platforms and after a while frameworks have been released targeting multiple mobile platforms where we can use one code base to support many mobile OS.

My thesis aims to implement a restaurant finder application which will show how to create a multi-platform solution that uses a common REST API as the back-end. The point of the created application is to give an easy to use tool to find restaurants, canteens on mobile and desktop too.
