Android based public transport control

In today's cities the using of the public transport has many advantages, but also has many difficulties. The routes travel time are often different from the scheulde, and this may have many causes. Thus, the reliability of public transport is variable. To solve this problem, the BKK has developed a passenger information system. My project purpose is to show a similar solution to this problem. The spread of the smartphones, we can access huge selection of hardware, ranging from the cheap devices to the expensive, high-end phones. With the help of these possibilities, it is possible to build a system which only need to concentrate to the software development.

The first part of the thesis presents the cause of the problem, the currently available solutions and the essence of the project.

In the next chapter I compare the currently available smartphones hardware facilities, which follows a short presentation of the Android platform with detailed presentation of the relevant behaviour.

In the last chapter I design and implement a system, which gives the possibility of proper information for the passengers. Finally the thesis summarize the results and the experiences.
