Information architecture for tractor races

The competition is part of the human nature and this is reflected in all areas. The popularity of car racing entailed the idea of racing with other vehicles, such as tractors or trucks. One of the most important things in common of these events is the precise time measurement.

My thesis subject was to design and build such a system, that is not only capable of the measurement, but to store and retrieve the data over the internet. During the process I have studied existing systems and their components, to see what kind of different solutions exist for the problem, and then I examined the need of different user groups.

Based on that knowledge I started designing the system. After making the plans, I built 4 hardware component, two crossing sensor gate, a display and a control unit, and implemented a desktop application.

In the essay I presented the components used in the units, and the complete hardware. Then I wrote about the functions of the programs that run on the hardware and the computer. Finally I presented the testing process. and wrote some ideas for further development.
