The usage of a wide variety of sensor systems covers all areas of our lives in the 21st century. With their help, we can keep the temperature of our home at a constant level, our vehicle can park to the selected parking spot after pressing a button, or a car with lane assist system can make easier the everyday commutation to work.
Both the automotive industry and industrial robotics have a growing need to develop an ultrasonic sensor system, which despite its simplicity and low cost, can be reliable and accurate.
The study presents the Arduino’s Integrated Development Environment and the Arduino boards, besides that it introduces the properties of the used sensors and motor. Futhermore it describes the alignment of the ultrasonic sensor and the Arduino board, then shows the calibration of the ultrasonic sensors with various measurements. It presents different software and hardware methods for improving the measurement accuracy. Moreover it shows the oppurtunities of the environment of MATLAB to visualize the operation of the sensor.
At last, after summarizing experiences and evaluating solutions, the study presents the possibilities of further improvement and future plans.
