Electric motors have been around for more than 200 years. The purpose of the electric motor is to generate mechanical energy from electrical energy. There are different types of electric motors, for example AC and DC. My final project concentrates on the BLDC motor. BLDC motors are synchronous motors powered by DC supply. These types of motors were made in the 19th century, and they are very common in many applications. They are used in industrial, residential and also in commercial applications.
I decided to choose this topic for my final project because it contains all the fields of my study that interested me. In the first part of the final project the theoretical background will be discussed. This topic consists of discussing the following topics: BLDC motors, inverters, position sensors. In the next part of the project simulations will be carried out with the BLDC motor.
After the simulations schematic design, appropriate element selection, and PCB design will be shown for both an inverter and for a control unit.
The last part of the final project will discuss the assembling of the PCB and the measurements that were made to confirm our expectations.
I hope with the help of my final project the reader can create a similar system with no prior knowledge about the topic.
