In my Thesis I designed a cloud application whose function was to optimize wireless sensor network (WSN) topology. Topology optimization is a major problem in WSN, because WSN equipments have limited resources to run conventional routing algorithms. The gateway of the WSN stores the network topology and it transfers the data to the cloud application which receives and optimizes the topology. After the optimization the service transfers the optimized topology back to the gateway and it configures the network settings according to the topology. I have also made a browser available network visualization.
I studied several routing protocols both in traditional and in sensor networks and I have made a data structure that can effectively transfer the network topology to the cloud application.
In the cloud service I have used traditional routing algorithm for optimization and the result is sent back to the gateway. The browser visualization has two different views and main network parameters are also shown.
During the test phase I analysed the service by different network topologies with different structure and size. According to the results the optimization service performs effectively.
