Development of Business Planning System Based on IBM MAXIMO

The subject of the current thesis work was Development of Business Planning System Based on IBM MAXIMO. I worked on my thesis as an employee of a big multinational company in an Asset and Work Management Project at Közmű Zrt. Közmű Zrt. is a power transmission company, whose main task is to ensure the transmission of electrical energy from the power plants to the electricity service providers.

Main subject of my thesis work was the business planning process, which creates the planned budgets for different kind of maintenance, refurbishment and development works. My task was to redesign the current business process, which will be supported by IBM Tivoli MAXIMO asset and work management system.

First of all I intended the MAXIMO object hierarchy in order to support the special needs of business planning at Közmű Zrt. I learned the basics of MAXIMO development and created validations, which prevents the users of creating wrong object hierarchy. I developed the MAXIMO side of MAXIMO-SAP interface, which allows the approval of business planning budgets form SAP. As a next task I created several BIRT reports, which provides the necessary data from the system for the business planning process. In order to make the process handling easy I did the necessary MAXIMO user interface customizations as well.

Another main part of my work was to invent how Primavera Project Management software can be involved in business planning process. As a part of this task I developed a new MAXIMO-Primavera import functionality to extend the current possibilities of implemented MAXIMO-Primavera integration. With the new import function it is possible to import the modified service costs from Primavera to MAXIMO automatically.

With the help of newly created business planning process in MAXIMO, more accurate planning of work costs is possible. The main advantage of this is that Közmű Zrt. is now able to save huge amount of costs on different kind of works.
