Schönherz IT Special Interest Group provides many services for the students of Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics. For example, they provide an e-mail address, web hosting, database services, Gitlab versioning system. Above these, it is possible to gather resources on their cluster, for half or one year. The cluster consists of five servers, and it provides IaaS service.
As the number of virtual machines grows int he cluster, it is more and more harder to track which VM is still needed, and who does it belong to. Therefore, there is a need for an administration system, which supports the management of these VMs.
The CIRCLE administration system, which is developed by IIT and IK, provides a solution for this problem, with the proper access management, and lifecycle handling of virtual machines.
To provide a solution for the need, it seems obvious, to use the open source CIRCLE system’s management components, but because of the technical differences, this is a difficult task. The possible solutions for connecting the two systems has to be examined, and after that, the chosen solution has to be implemented.
