Value Driver Tree handling in modular software architecture

Within my thesis work I’ve created a single-page web application that can manipulate a previously created value driver tree (VDT tree). With the help of the program users can visualise, edit and save the modified graphs. As part of my work I present value-based company management with the related philosophy, terminology, and the reasons behind its origin. I give detailed explanation about the structure of VDT graphs that can model inner company processes, furthermore I declare their role in operational mechanisms. As part of the theoretical background description I analyse decision support systems, I reveal how a VDT graph can serve as a basis for them and I also define the graph’s aspect in performance measurements. Following the discussion of the academic details, I create a modular, role separated, three-layered software architecture that serves as a structural base for the graph editor application. I define the general and specific requirements of graph drawing algorithms and I document the functional behaviour of the Reingold-Tilford method used during the implementation session. Within the presentation of the created application I give detailed explanation about the technologies used and I also show code examples to illustrate the internal structure and logical relationships within the software. As a closure I present the various development opportunities and I summarize my work.
