Nowadays, there are several web applications on the internet that facilitate the everyday life of mankind with special regards to web map services. Using these applications, a tape measure is not needed anymore to determine the distance between two cities as the program calculates it. However, these applications must be updated from time to time. Currently, there is not any turnkey system that would offer a real - time web geoinformatics framework. Therefore, the thesis, intends to show the design of such a structure, which becomes real – time by providing data from different external sources after the page has been loaded (Weather, GPS, Webcamera).
First, the three most popular online map services are reviewed along with the three most widespread databases that are capable to store map data.
Then follows the demonstration of a real – time geoinformatics web service, which includes all the modern technologies like: real – time websocket, Node. js, HTML5 and CSS3.
Finally, the scalability of the designed system is presented.
