Customer SW simulation, without its functional knowledge in embedded systems

The Bosch Group is a leading global supplier of technology and services. Among the activities of Bosch, there are automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods, and building technology included. It has a wide palette in automotive technology, from these there is the business of the automatic transmission control class, which has a long tradition and handles the development on software, hardware and module level too.

As we can find products developed in shared ways by different companies in many areas of the SW-development, thus the automatic transmission area is no exception. The running SW on the controller is implemented partly of the supplier (in this case, Bosch),and partly by the customer. In this case, the customer-side SW constitutes industrial secret, so of course it is not available for the supplier. The simulation of this SW is a key issue under the development of the supplier’s own SW.

The simulated customer SW was completed several years ago, and has been enhanced over the years. The rethinking and preparation for new projects is already available in the form of a concept. The refinement, implementation and testing of this concept is required in the following. Under the refinement of the concept, the simulated SW modules must be designed to be able to cooperate with each supplier SW-section (on the specific customer interfaces), in all projects – with platform-nature. During the implementation of the modules,the rules of the internal encoding must be considered. Under the testing of the finished SW, we should consider the requirements of the supplier’s SW testability.
