Today when we are in need of constant electric supply, electric diagnostics is of major significance. Operational safety is provided by regular diagnostic check-ups, which are indispensable in order to detect any faults occuring in electric appliances. At the same time, regular control may indicate how long the appliance will eventually operate.

My thesis presents the diagnostic examinations of synchronized generators and transformers.In the case of generators special emphasis is put on the measurements with the Recurrent Surge Oscillogram, while with transformer diagnostics, Recovery Voltage Measurement is given a more detailed description. In addition, the thesis contains the description of a number of further diagnostic measurements, one of which is the measurement of insulation resistance.

The last chapter presents the results of my transformer diagnostics measurements carried out with the help of ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ Hálózati Szolgáltató Ltd Dianostics group in the course of my summer training session.
