Harmonic Analysis of Winding MMF in Rotating Electrical Machines

I explicated the features of the three-phase windings and the magnetomotive force curves created by the current of the windings. I explicated each significant types of both the integer and the fractional slot windings. In addition I described the construction and the harmonic decompositon of the MMF curves. I specified what kind of harmonic content does the MMF curve of the different types of windings have.

Furthermore I explicated the theoretical background of the pole-amplitude modulation. I demonstrated through simulation figures, how it is possible to change the pole number of a given three-phase winding with the pole-amplitude modulation method.

In the next step I explicated the torque production of the electrical machines through the magnetic energy and coenergy. I also expounded what kind of effect does the time harmonic content of the current of the windings have on the space harmonic content of the resulting MMF curves. I expanded the investigation on five-phase windings as well.

Furthermore, I demonstrated the method of the torque production of electrical machines which was based on the interaction of the rotor and stator magnetic fields. I used the result of the previous deduction of the torque production for this purpose.

Lastly, I demonstrated what kind of effect do the harmonic contents of the MMF curves and the exciting currents have on the torque of the machine. I investigated this in the case of a three-phase and a five-phase stator winding of choice, and I have created the rotor windings for them according to those of a round-rotor synchronous machine.
