Development of Virtual Reality Game

Virtual reality has been the subject of many science fiction films and novels. In the past few years the fantasy became reality as virtual reality has appeared in many fields of Information Technology. At the moment one of the biggest fields of virtual reality is game developement, where a lot of new opportunities have became available for developers and players alike because of virtual reality.

This document describes for you what virtual reality is and why did it appear in the game industry. It discusses the choices somebody has when they start developing virtual reality games.

It is described in detail how my virtual reality game works that I developed for the Oculus Rift CV1 virtual reality headset with Unity. While designing and implementing the game, I encountered some unexpected problems and decisions that were often related to virtual reality, these are also mentioned.

The core mechanics of the game is sword fighting and spell casting. The algorithmic challenges of these mechanics and how they’ve got implemented are part of this document.
