Virtual reality application development in Android environment

Nowadays the term of virtual reality becomes more and more known and the applications based on virtual reality become more and more popular. It is no wonder, since to experience the virtual reality it is not necessary to buy expensive devices, it can be enough to have a smartphone and a headset made of cardboard. This is the reason why Google created Cardboard, the headset made of cardboard and two plastic lenses.

The paper covers the design and development of a labyrinth game based on virtual reality and using Cardboard headset.

By the help of the application the player finds himself in a maze within the virtual space, from where he must get out. It is night, dark, only the Moon and the flashlight light the labyrinth. There is an opportunity to choose, embark on the adventure without stake, or start a stopwatch and try to find the way out of the maze as soon as possible fighting against the time.

The thesis work introduces the devices necessary to experience the virtual reality, then the design and development process of this application will be presented. This is followed by a detailed user manual of the application. Finally, the finished application’s test on real devices and the evaluation of the results close the paper.
