Developing a VoIP based door entry system

My thesis deals with the design and implementation of a complex device. The goal is to create an independent unit, which can operate as a VoIP based intercom. It also contains the realization of the hardware and the implementation of the software components. The graphical user interface is a touch screen. The user can either choose from the entries of the phone book of the device or dial a memorized number. The unit has an embedded Linux operating system and it can be supplied via PoE (Power over Ethernet).

This study shows the preparation steps for the system. First the prior planning and the required technological basics are presented. Next, the design and implementation of the components of the hardware and client software are described. After that, I demonstrate the embedded Linux system and the modifications of the kernel source. This is followed by the presentation of the actuation of the device. Last, I show a summary of the created device, the result of my two semester long work.
