Industry 4.0 is the fourth revolution of industry, which transfers the physical world to a digital world utilizing new technologies like the Internet of Things, Cloud computing, Artificial intelligence, automation and so forth. Different application scenarios are defined in the context of Industry 4.0. This thesis focuses on the Plug and Produce use case defined by Industry 4.0 Platform in a working paper . The Plug and Produce use case enables a flexible production line easing the integration of field devices by automating its onboarding and re-configuration processes without manual work. The thesis proposes a new approach to implement the Plug and Produce use case by developing RESTful connectivity APIs based on the working paper  for connectivity management. Three main APIs were designed: Power On Device, Change Device’s APN and Reset Device. The Power On Device and Change Device’s APN APIs were implemented, and Reset Device will be implemented as a next step. The developed APIs are able to be integrated with popular and well-known IoT development platforms, such as Windows Azure, Amazon AWS, or GE Predix. They can also be a foundation of a new RESTful application development platform for future’s smart factory concept. The new web APIs allows field devices to connect to the network in an easy and safe way, enabling software developers to use standard interfaces to develop smart factory applications.
