Creating an interactive HTML5 based signature verification user interface

Signature based verification is a widely used method among the various legal and financial institutions, so it is a completely legitimate demand to create modern software to compare images of hand written signatures and filter out fake ones. The "Aláírás Hitelesítő Rendszer" (Signature Verification System or AHR) is a software created at BME Department of Automation and Applied Informatics, which is written in C# language and provides a solution to this verification problem. The software has a Microsoft Silverlight based demonstration interface running on AAIT’s website.

There are a range of different native browser components (such as Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash, other ActiveX components), but due to lower popularity and less support they become obsolete and got replaced by new features of HTML5 technology which are supported by most modern desktop and mobile browsers natively, like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apple's Safari.

My main task in this thesis is to replace the signature verification system’s demonstration application on AAIT’s website which is based on Microsoft Silverlight technology with an HTML5 alternative which provides the same design and functionality, like moving signatures in the application by drag & drop and uploading files from the user’s computer.
