Development of postprocessing effects for virtual scenes

The cumputer graphics, thanks to the fast and spectacuar advancement, today it’s the basic element of entertainment and film business. With it we can produce realistic or abstract, artistic images cost effective. After effects are one of the ways to achieve this, where we manipulate the color information of the pixels of the rendered picture.

With the depth of field filter we can reproduce the blurring effect of the human eyes, or the camera lens. With depth of field we can make our picture more realistic, or we can direct the attention of the audience to the focused object.

The bilateral filter is edge-preserving and noise-reducing smoothing filter. Using this filter we can achieve cartoon-like display.

Reflection of the surrounding objects on a scene entity can be implemented using environment maps. In my application I implemented cube mapping. I manipulated the colorvalue of the environment map, and achieved non realistic, artistic effect.

I used the Ogre3D engine to create and manipulate a virtual scene with my effect. With that library I could easly make a user interface for the application. The engine support all shader languages, such as glsl, hlsl and cg.
